Randolph, Gasol lead Grizzlies over Nets 76-72

NEW YORK (AP) -- Ever since trading top scorer Rudy Gay, the Memphis Grizzlies have shown they can still put up some points.

Heading into Sunday night's game in Brooklyn, Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins had a feeling his team would slow things down a bit with their defensive effort leading the way.

Zach Randolph had 16 points and 14 rebounds, Marc Gasol scored 14 points and the Grizzlies won their seventh straight game, 76-72 over the Nets.

''The key was our defense. I said to people before the game that the way Brooklyn plays and we play, it could be 76-70 and it was pretty close,'' Hollins said.

''We stopped Brooklyn five times in a row. We then make the free throws, go up and then we continued to get stops.''

Two of those free throws Hollins was possibly referring to were critical and sent Brooklyn to its second straight loss, both without Joe Johnson, the team's second-leading scorer.

Tony Allen chipped in 12 points, including two free throws with 19 Carmine 6s.5 seconds left to give Memphis a 74-72 lead. Allen was originally credited with a basket after Brooklyn's MarShon Brooks was called for goaltending. After the referees looked over replays they switched their call and gave Allen two shots after he was grabbed by Nets forward Mirza Teletovic on the field goal attempt.

The referees made another questionable call before Allen's free throws.

With 26.9 seconds remaining, Deron Williams drove toward the rim and was met by Randolph with Allen trailing behind. As Williams was about to attempt his shot, replays showed Allen fouling Williams from behind, with Randolph also contesting the shot.

Williams said afterward that he thought he was fouled, while Allen called it a good defensive play.

''Down the stretch of the game I just had my antennas up and was ready to be aggressive. I forced Deron to the big man (Randolph) on their last possession and I thank Zach for being there to stop his angle,'' Allen said.

''Once he cocked the ball back, I was able to get my hand on the ball. Then I was able to finish at the free throw line.''

Williams, who led Brooklyn with 24 points, fell hard on the arena floor, grabbed his lower left leg and ran up the court despite a noticeable limp. Williams got kicked in the calf and said he was sore but good to go in the team's next game Tuesday at New Orleans.

The Nets point guard has been playing through a bevy of injuries this season that has kept him out of a few games yet he tried to do everything he could with his backcourt mate Johnson out due to a sore left heel Carmine 6s For Sale.

''I got fouled up top and down low,'' Williams said. ''I drove to the lane. I got fouled.''

Memphis' defense held the Nets without any points and baskets made down the stretch with less than three minutes remaining.

Brooklyn had a 72-67 lead after Teletovic's fade away jumper with 2:50 left but the Grizzlies quickly tied it. Prince hit a 3-pointer with 2:31 remaining to make it 72-70. After Gasol blocked Andray Blatche's shot and Teletovic missed a 3-pointer, Conley hit a 19-foot shot with 1:18 left to tie it, 72-72. Brooklyn then missed two more shots as Brook's turnaround jumper was off the rim and then Allen made his game-changing play, blocking Williams' attempt.

''It was disappointing. We worked that hard,'' Nets interim head coach P.J. Carlesimo said.

''I thought Deron did a great job taking the ball to the basket.''

Brooklyn had a chance to tie it with 10.9 seconds left, but Williams turned the ball over as he attempted to pass it to Teletovic but the pass was picked off by Tayshaun Prince. Williams then fouled Mike Conley, who sealed it with a pair of free throws.

''I think it says a lot to get this win. I think this was a test game to see if we are playing well or not,'' Conley said. ''To come in and beat a very good team in their home court says a lot about our integrity and our ability to step up in big games.''

After Carlesimo ended his postgame news conference, some players left without addressing the media. Nets general manager Billy King walked alongside Brook Lopez and Blatche. King commented that the players would not be stopping in the hallway in order to avoid any possible fines on remarks they could make about the game's officiating.

Lopez, the team's lone representative in the All-Star game, played just three quarters and was benched in the final 12 minutes of the game. He scored just nine points, making just three of 10 shots from the field. Carlesimo said that Blatche ''was playing better on both ends and was playing good defense''.

Prince had 11 points to help the Grizzlies improve to 8-0 this season when holding opponents below 80 points.

C.J. Watson had 11 points and Blatche added 10 for the Nets.

Pacers beat Warriors after 4th-quarter scuffle

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- If the Indiana Pacers learned anything from their 108-97 win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, it's exactly how close they are as a team.

Team unity and having each other's back has been a theme for the Pacers, and they had a chance to show it when center Roy Hibbert got involved in a fourth-quarter scuffle.

Hibbert was ejected following the skirmish that began when he and David Lee exchanged shoves under the basket after a missed shot.

''There were two or three guys coming after (Hibbert),'' Pacers forward David West said. ''We preach and talk about togetherness, so that's part of what we're going to do. We're going to defend one another Jordan 6s 2014 For Sale. They came after him too many times.''

West, who had 28 points and seven rebounds, also was called for a technical foul, along with the Warriors' Lee, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, for the altercation.

No players left the bench.

Curry tried to push Hibbert away and was shoved twice to the court as the fight went from the key to the baseline.

''Seriously, I didn't even feel him,'' Hibbert said of Curry. ''I saw some light-skinned guy. I don't know if it was Klay Thompson or Steph Curry, I just knew there was a light-skinned guy by me.''

Hibbert believes he will face a suspension.

''Indiana's a very physical team,'' Lee said. ''They're one of the most physical teams, if not the most physical team in the East.''

George Hill had 23 points and seven assists, and Paul George had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Pacers (36-21), who have won five straight Jordan 2 Concord Elephant Print.

Curry scored a season-high 38 points and Thompson had 13 for the Warriors (33-24), who had a three-game winning streak snapped.

''It was just physical play,'' Curry said. ''Teams are gearing up for playoff basketball and amping up the intensity a little bit.''

The Pacers built a 95-85 lead midway through the fourth quarter and not even the scuffle shook them up as they ended a three-game skid against Western Conference teams.

When play resumed, Ian Mahinmi made a free throw and later West had three baskets, Lance Stephenson hit a 3-pointer and George scored on a jumper to give the Pacers a 104-87 lead with 3:28 left to play.

''We knew we had to (close it out) with Roy going out,'' George said Jordan 2 Dark Concord Elephant Print. ''We knew we had to close that game. We're happy about this, but it's one game.''

Indiana's Danny Granger played 18 1/2 minutes and scored five points off the bench in his first home game this season.

He wasn't in the locker room for media availability after the game.

Pacers coach Frank Vogel said he wants to get Granger back in the starting lineup and is looking at a possible two-week timetable, but said he will review it week-by-week.

''My expectations are that we'll get him back into the starting lineup as soon as possible,'' Vogel said.

Curry hit a jumper and a 3-pointer and the Warriors took a 5-0 lead to start the game. Hill, who had 15 points in the first quarter, hit two 3-pointers, including one to tie the game with 4:19 left in the period Pre Order Air Jordan 2 Elephant Print Concord.

With the Warriors trailing 52-43, Curry hit a 3-pointer and two more field goals before Lee scored on a layup to get them within 54-53 at halftime.

Nets make few miscues, run past Hawks

ATLANTA -- The first time the Atlanta Hawks played the Brooklyn Nets this season, the Hawks won in Atlanta without suspended forward Josh Smith. Two days later in Brooklyn, the Nets won as the Hawks were without center Al Horford, nursing a sore calf and hamstring.

Saturday night at Philips Arena, the Hawks had them both but went down in flames anyway, as the Nets took a 93-80 victory, snapping a streak of eight straight losses to the Hawks at Philips Arena dating to Jan. 30, 2009.

"That's as good a game as we've played all year," Nets interim coach P Jordan 11 Concord Low For Sale.J. Carlesimo said. "I mean considering it was a back to back and how important a game we felt this was for us. From the point we were down 10, or whatever we were, we can't play much better.

"We took care of the ball so well -- I think we had two turnovers in the second half -- our defensive energy was really really good.

"When we're that focused and play with that much attentiveness as we did tonight -- not much energy -- we can be a really good basketball team."

The Hawks have lost five of their last six games.

"Everything is predicated on whether we come out with energy," a visibly exhausted Hawks coach Larry Drew said. "Sitting there, I kind of sensed what we've gone through the last two, 2 1/2 weeks. It caught up with us tonight.

"Frankly, I think we hit a wall tonight. Big time."

Brook Lopez had 18 points and nine rebounds, Andray Blatche also scored 18 and Deron Williams contributed 17 points for the Nets. Reggie Evans added nine rebounds.

"I got good looks," Lopez said, "and guys like Joe (Johnson) and Deron set great screens for me.

"We just never really had a let-down. It was constantly in our minds that we wanted to keep the energy high and keep the focus high. I think we did a good job of that. If we can emulate what we did tonight the rest of the season, we'll definitely be doing well.

"We're very good when we play off our two best players, Joe and Deron. It definitely opens up the floor for everyone else Buy Cheap Concord 11s Low."

Johnson, booed every time he touched the ball, had a quiet night with eight points to go with four rebounds, five assists and four steals.

The Hawks (34-2 jumped out to an 11-1 lead within moments of the opening tip, but the Nets absorbed the punch. Johnson scored the first Nets points that didn't come via foul shots, and Lopez and Evans kept hauling down the rebounds until Brooklyn got some traction, tying the score 23-23 after one quarter.

After that, the Hawks' energy took a nose dive. Atlanta didn't have a fast-break basket until there was less than a minute left in the first half. The Nets (37-26) had only four fast-break points in the half but led 51-37.

By the end of the third quarter, the Nets had increased the lead to 76-57 and pumped it up to a 23-point lead as the fourth quarter began.

Horford had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks and Smith scored 12 points. Jeff Teague, scoreless at halftime, had a seven-point spurt the third quarter for his only points. Johan Petro tied his season high with 10 points in the first quarter, then sat on the bench and playing only 14 minutes.

"This was a game that was important to us," Horford said, "and we let it slip.

"I think we had a little carryover from the game last night Concord 11s 2014. We fought hard in Boston and I think we started out OK, but couldn't maintain that rhythm."

Each team came into the game trying to prevent the other from draining 3-point shots, but fatigue on both sides took care of that from the start. Kyle Korver hit a 3-point shot two minutes into the game to extend to 55 his streak of consecutive games with at least one 3-point basket, but he finished with only seven points.

NOTES: Both teams were playing the second game of a back-to-back, so Drew and Carlesimo knew they'd need minutes from their bench players. Carlesimo said he played Johnson more minutes than he intended to in Friday's 95-78 home win over the Washington Wizards, although Johnson said his sore left heel was feeling better. And Drew cited the heavy minutes his starters played in their 107-102 overtime road loss to the Boston Celtics. ... Drew started Johan Petro at center for the second straight night as Zaza Pachulia missed a 10th game (fourth consecutive) with a sore right Achilles' Where To Buy Concord 11s Low. Drew moved Horford to forward to start the game, wanting to match up size-wise with Petro on Lopez and hoping the move would keep Horford out of early foul trouble. ... Evans' eyes were nearly swollen shut before the game, the result of having been inadvertently scratched during Friday's game. He was in the starting lineup nonetheless. ... Drew didn't have to watch too many highlights of Williams's NBA-record nine 3-point shots in the first half of Friday's game (and 11 total) to know that the Hawks would need to do to make it tough on him early.
